Schiff's MegaRed Krill Oil comes from a single source of krill, Euphausia superba Dana. This means no other species of krill are harvested or used in this product.

The Antarctic Circumpolar Current isolates the Antarctic region from other oceans and volatile contaminants therefore reach Antarctica only by air transport.

Superba Krill Oil has full traceability from food grade approved harvesting vessels to the end product. This ensures compliance with current and new legislations. Each day the location of the krill by GPS is registered thus allowing complete traceability of the raw material.

The stability of omega-3 rich products and the susceptibility to oxidation are well known challenges. Superba krill oil has two great advantages over the traditionally fish oil based omega-3 products. It has a high concentration of omega-3 phospholipids and the naturally occurring antioxidant astaxanthin. Scientific studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids linked to the phospholipids are less prone to oxidation. Thus astaxanthin will give additional protection to omega-3 fatty acids in krill and prolong product shelf life. Astaxanthin inhibits fatty acid oxidation and thereby secures a stable oil product within the softgel.
